Once home to Café Motu, Motu Honey House retains the character of its café days, with a spacious kitchen, relaxed living areas and inviting outdoor spaces. The downstairs sleeping area forms part of the open-plan space, while a separate upstairs bedroom is reached by an external staircase. Enjoy the covered deck among the palms or spend an evening in the private courtyard with the pizza oven or the BBQ.
Motu Honey House is within strolling distance to beautiful Okiwi Park and its remnant native trees, with Whangapoua beach and estuary a 5-min drive and Port Fitzroy a 15-min drive over the hill.
Meet our hens, enjoy the local birdlife, including banded rails, kākā and kākāriki, and, if you visit in spring, look out for inquisitive lambs from our small flock of sheep. Explore the island’s walks and beaches, or simply settle into a slower pace. Alan lives next door, and if not out fishing, sailing or planting native trees, he is a font of knowledge about the island, native forest and wetland restoration.
The house accommodates up to five guests, with two queen beds and one single bed. There is a kitchen, bathroom, and outdoor deck and courtyard areas. Guests are welcome to use the outdoor pizza oven (subject to current fire restrictions) and BBQ.
Free WiFi available.
Please note that the upstairs bedroom has external access, and the bathroom is also accessed from outside.
